What this does
Cuts a long recording into smaller pieces you can actually work with, which is useful for a lecture, an interview, or a podcast you want to quote from.
If you supply your own OpenRouter key, it can also turn the speech into text.
How to use it
- Add your audio or video file.
- Choose how to split it: by length, or at the quiet gaps between speech.
- Review the segments it proposes.
- Download the pieces, or transcribe them if you have set up a key.
About transcription
Turning speech into text is done by an outside service, so it needs an OpenRouter key of your own. You paste the key in once and it is kept on your device.
This means the audio for those segments is sent to that service to be transcribed. If that is not acceptable for your recording, use the splitting on its own, which stays entirely on your device.
Your privacy
Splitting happens entirely inside your browser and your file is never uploaded. Transcription is different: it sends audio to OpenRouter, because that work cannot be done on your device. Splitting alone sends nothing anywhere.

Only for transcription. Splitting works without one.
What does a key cost?
You pay OpenRouter directly for what you use, usually a very small amount for speech. This tool adds no charge.
Where is my key stored?
On your own device, in your browser. It is never sent anywhere except to OpenRouter when you transcribe.
